Two upcoming booksignings in POTTSTOWN

The next couple of weeks bring (at least) two opportunities to support local authors in downtown Pottstown.

*On Saturday, Jan. 22, authors Sandy Elliott Swann and Susan Swann McKain will be signing their children’s book, “Tugger the Pretzel Pup,” at the First United Methodist Church bookstore, 414 E. High St., Pottstown, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The authors will do a reading at 11 a.m., followed by an appearance of Tugger, the Irish terrier star of the book.

Books purchased that day will be signed by the authors and proceeds will be donated to the church. Soup and sandwiches will be available for purchase starting at 11:30 a.m. The bookstore hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Swann is a former OJR teacher and McKain as well as the book’s illustrator, Regina Anderson, are 1992 Owen J. Roberts High School graduates.

*And on Saturday, Jan. 29, Tamara Rollins, the Gilbertsville author of the self-published novel “Karma Always Catches Up With You,” will sign copies of her book at 1 p.m. at the Pottstown Regional Public Library, 500 High St., Pottstown A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the library.

Good party, good karma

I've been to weddings that weren't as posh as the book-release shindig thrown by Gilbertsville author Tamara Rollins at Pottstown's Quality Inn on Sunday.

Rollins not only did the hard part: She wrote a book, "Karma Always Catches Up With You" (Createspace, 200 pp., $12.99, to be released December 2010 ... that's the bookcover on her cake at left!), she also planned her party, decorated the room, made all the centerpieces herself, played hostess AND cooked all the food.

Did I mention she's a mom of 4? And all four children were at this party, dressed to the nines and perfectly behaved?

There was also an opportunity to pre-order a copy of Rollins' book, which you can pick up Rollins' book on Amazon.com starting in early December.

Rollins (that's her at right, posing next to a photo from her bookcover) sent me these photos taken at her party.

Congrats to the author!

Gilbertsville author extends open invitation to book release party

Recently, Gilbertsville resident and new author Tamara Rollins (pictured at left) contacted me to invite the ENTIRE Mercury editorial staff to her upcoming book release party.

This happens sometimes before people realize what generally obnoxious people actually work at the paper (that’s a JOKE, fellow staffers ... I’m sure you will be a delightful addition to Rollins’ party!)

As it turns out, she’s invited, well, everyone to this celebratory shindig.

Rollins will be holding a release party for her first novel, “Karma Always Catches Up With You” ($12.99, Createspace, 200 pp.) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Quality Inn at 61 W. King St., Pottstown.

This is an public event where people will have the opportunity to pre-order a copy of Rollins’ book, a self-published work of fiction.

“There will be food, music and dancing, so I’m encouraging as many people as possible to come out and have a good time,” Rollins said.

A photo that Rollins kindly provided from her book's cover is at right.

Below is a description of the novel by freelance editor and author JC Reveal:

“Tamara Rollins has created ‘Everywoman’ in her character of Karma Jones — a young woman driven by a desire to raise herself and her mother out of the depths of despair, and into an elite society. Karma achieves her goal, but not until she has risen to the top of the entertainment world, only to plummet to its depths through the manipulation of the perfect villain — Karma’s husband, Todd. The reader experiences Karma’s trials and tribulations as they happen and discovers, as Karma does, that happy endings really do happen.

Rollins' debut novel, “Karma Always Catches Up With You” will be released in early December and will be available for purchase on Amazon.com.
