Susan McKain must've had that thought about her dog, Tugger, before penning a children's book about her family's beloved Irish Terrier.
McKain, of Lititz, and her mom, North Coventry resident Sandy Swann, will be holding a booksigning for "Tugger the Pretzel Pup" on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Doris Powell, owner of Warrick Jewelers, 251 E. High St., will host the booksigning for the mother-and-daughter co-authors as part of a special promotion for dog lovers.
Swann and her daughter, McKain, co-authors of the 2010 children’s book “Tugger the Pretzel Pup,” will be at the downtown Pottstown store signing copies of their 36-page book from 10 a.m to 5 p.m.
Swann is a former OJR elementary teacher and reading specialist; McKain, as well as the book’s illustrator, Regina Anderson, are 1992 Owen J. Roberts High School graduates. Anderson now resides in Lancaster.
Swann said she and her daughter have done book promotion events in the Lititz area and have sold 940 books in 6 months since the book launched in April.
On January 22, 2011, the authors will again visit Pottstown to sign their book at First United Methodist Church, 414 High St., Pottstown. The booksigning will be held in the church bookstore from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The real-life Tugger, canine hero of the tale, will make an appearance at 11 a.m. Swann said the church is also offering soup and sandwiches for sale starting at 11:30 a.m.

"The book has been a fun project for us,” Swann said. “In our second book, the action moves to my home as Tugger meets my cat, Mini-mew. This book is now with our illustrator, and we hope to have it out next fall.”
