Eagles veteran to sign book Thursday in Royersford

Do you like football AND books? Well, here's an event for you!

On Thursday, Nov. 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m., former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski will be signing "The Games That Changed The Game: The Evolution of the NFL in Seven Sundays" (Ballantine/ESPN Books, 336 pp., $26), written by Jaworski with David Plaut and Greg Cosell with a foreward by Steve Sabol, president, NFL Films at Maxout Strength Studio, Royersford. The book was released Oct. 5.

Proceeds from the booksigning will benefit The JAWS Youth Fund, an initiative founded by the Jaworski Family and The United Way of Camden County that serves at-risk youth throughout the Delaware Valley Region.

In the book, Jaworski, a former NFL MVP who's now one of the broadcasters of Monday Night Football, breaks down the films from seven of the most momentous football games of the last 50 years.

A statement from his publisher reads: "With an eye toward the brilliant game plans and seminal strategic breakthroughs that revolutionized play on both sides of the ball, Jaworski offers readers a drive-by-drive, play-by-play guide to the evolutionary leaps that now define the modern NFL, as well as portraits of the seven men who exhibited both creativity and courage in bucking established strategies.

"From Sid Gillman’s development of the Vertical Stretch, which culminated in the San Diego Chargers’ victory in the 1963 AFL Championship Game and launched the era of wide-open passing offenses, to Bill Belichick’s daring defensive game plan in Super Bowl XXXVI, which enabled his outgunned squad to upset the heavily favored St. Louis Rams and usher in the New England Patriots dynasty, the most cutting-edge concepts come alive again through the recollections of nearly seventy coaches and players interviewed for this book."
Jaworski, who attended Youngstown State University, played 17 NFL seasons. In 1980, he led the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl XV and was named NFL MVP. Jaworski then became a sports commentator and TV show host. He is the president of Philadelphia’s Maxwell Club.

David Shafer, president/CEO of Maxout, said, "MaxOut Strength Studio is thrilled to host this event featuring the legendary former Eagles Quarterback Ron Jaworski and his fascinating new book, 'The Games That Changed The Game.' It’s going to be a great opportunity for football fans to connect with JAWS, get their books signed, and to experience MaxOut as well.”

MaxOut Strength Studio is located in the Limerick Square Shopping Center, off the Royersford exit of 422, at 70 Buckwalter Road, Suite 203, Royersford, PA 19468.
