The author, Rebecca Miller, adapted it for film and produced it. <br /><br />Robin Wright Penn was absolutely perfect as adult Pippa. Alan Arkin played a good Herb Lee, but I admit I would've liked to have seen a sexier older dude in the role. Blake Lively also well cast as young Pippa. Even Keanu Reeves was perfectly stoic and mysterious as Chris. Julianne Moore was also funny in her bit part as a lesbian who lures Pippa into posing for some naughty photos.<br /><br />A lot of the novel was omitted from the film, of course, but all in all the movie version was very true to the story. Because I read the book first, I'm not sure how someone who hadn't would react to the movie (was it a good enough movie to stand on its own?
