Book giveaway: "One Flight Up"

Stack o' books balanced precariously on my desk
The stack of books on my desk (received from publishers kind enough to send review copies ... see at left) is looking like it's going to topple over at any moment, which means it's time to give away some books!!

First up, I have "One Flight Up" (Washington Square Press Trade Paperback, July 2011, $13, 355 pp.) is the first novel by Susan Fales-Hill, an award-winning television writer, among other roles.

The Harvard educated Fales-Hill started her writing career as an apprentice on "The Cosby Show," and for its spin-off, "A Different World," and other TV sitcoms.

"One Flight Up" has been touted as chick-lit by"The New York Post," "sassy" beach reading by "Vogue," and "Essence" calls the book "frank and funny." While "One Flight Up" is her first novel, she published a memoir about her mom called "Always Wear Joy" in 2003.

Synopsis (as provided by Washington Square Press):

After years of searching for and finally landing that one perfect man, four Manhattan friends find themselves simultaneously questioning their romantic choices. Smart, strong, but jaded divorce lawyer India Chumley leads this pack of feisty thirty-somethings, all friends since grade school at Sibley Academy, an Upper East Side institution for sophisticated ladies-in-training.

There’s Abby Rosenfeld Adams, a Jewish gallery owner married to her Wasp college sweetheart, Monique Dawkins-Dubois, gynecologist and card carrying member of Harlem’s thriving Buppie-ocracy, and Esme Santiago Talbot, a Columbian heiress married to the All-American boy next door.

When India, the most straight-laced of them all, learns that her friends are considering straying from their partners, she is dismayed. That is, until India’s ex-fiance, the love of her life, the destroyer of her heart, and the best sex ever, comes back into her life – and she finds herself caught between the dependable man she thought was her future and the man she never quite let go of.
